Yo-Yo financing, Spot Delivery Scam, Intimidation and Threats

After a long search for the vehicle I was interested in, I contacted Pioneer Porsche in San Diego. They told me they had a vehicle for me, and I was asked some general questions about my credit, and they said that we can work out a deal.

After driving 3 and 1/2 hours from my home to this dealership, I arrived at the dealership only to find that the vehicle was USED, which the salesperson did not mention over the phone. Regardless, the price was enticing and I decided to go ahead and sign the paper work. The salesperson disappeared and returned and claimed that I had been approved, and I drove out the dealership with my new car.

One week later I was contacted by the dealership who claimed that there were some problems with the negotiation, and that they needed me to return the vehicle immediately. When I asked what the problem was, they said that I was not approved, which was surprising because they had already told me that I was. I became upset and said that I wouldn't, and that it was their responsibility to honor the deal.

Long story short, I received nearly 10 phone calls a day from people ranging from the salesperson to the managers. Finally I received an intimidating phone call from a rude and unprofessional person who claimed to be the manager. They made a series of threats, and said that if I did not return the vehicle they would have it repossessed. I told him that he could not do that because I never missed a payment, and if I really WAS NOT approved, then it was their mistake.

I had already sold my other vehicle and I had no other car at that point. They said that I needed to drive it down there, and they refused to send a flatbed truck to come retrieve the car. Angry and upset, I drove the car back another 3 and a half hours to San Diego, only to be dropped off at the train station empty handed.

I had to deal with the embarrassment of taking the bus and explaining to friends and family where my shiny new car had gone. A couple days later I received a call from the dealership who claimed that I needed a co-signer, and that I could not lease the vehicle, but I could finance it, which was surprising because the initial loan was for $30,000, but the new loan they were asking me to take out was double that amount. I realized that I had been a victim of a scam, and the entire time, I was given the vehicle with the cynical intention of snatching it from under me, in the hopes that I would become attached to the car, and end up spending another $30,000.

I was attached to the car, but I refused to do business with this dealership, and I have urged my family members and friends not to either. After some research I found that I was not the only person to be victimized by this dealership in this matter.

I was treated rudely, and unprofessionally, and the manager in particular, who went by the name of "Sean, " was difficult to work with. I was insulted and accused of wrongdoings that were false, and their accusations and insults were very personal in nature. I was told that I was "stupid, " that I was a "liar, " and that I didn't "deserve that car anyways."

Do yourself a favor, pass on Pioneer Porsche.
