Scranton PA Watch Your Wallet With These Crooks At Sandone Tire

Watch out for these guys. They lied to me about repairs needed for my car (when they had my car for an oil change). They told me that the wheel bearings were in really bad shape and they needed to be replaced right away. They provided me a written quote for the repair and I told them I would get back to them.

The following day, I returned to the local Honda dealer (who did my PA state saftey inspection the week before) and asked them why the poor condition of the bearings was not pointed out to me when they had my vehicle 10 days prior. They double checked the paperwork and there was nothing noted about the wheel bearings, so the mechanic took a second look at the car and validated that there was nothing wrong with the bearings.

At this point, I began to have my doubts about the ethics of Sandone Tire, but I returned a few weeks later for another oil change and was asked if I would like the tires rotated or any additional services. My response was very clear..."No. Just change the oil." 45 minutes later they were done with my car and I went to the counter to collect my keys and pay for the oil change. The sign behind the counter showed three different oil change packages.

The basic 'just change the oil' price was $26.88. This is what I asked for but, they charged me for the higher priced 'top off fluids' package and also charged another $2.50 for the washer fluid that they put in. No big deal, I paid them $8 for 1/2 gallon of washer fluid. I really don't care about the money, but it's the fact that they charged me for things that I didn't ask for.

I should also mention that while I was waiting for this oil change. There was another lady (who was getting new tires) who was talking about the same tactics of selling un-needed parts for her car. She was speaking about the last time she was there they told her she needed new brake pads and rotors.

When she took the car to her regular mechanic to have the work done, he called her and told her that the brakes were perfectly fine and nothing needed replaced. She also mentioned that the price Sandone Tire was trying to charge her was much higher than what her mechanics was going to charge... This was my experience as well. Before I returned to the Honda dealership, I called around for a few quotes. Sandone quoted $120 each when all the other shops quoted $79-$96 each.

At any rate, I refuse to step foot in the store again. Today I had new tires put on my car at the local Firestone store. I also had them check the wheel bearing and suspension... They said everything was fine.

It seems that they are hungry for money and will conduct poor business practices to increase their profits. Buyer Beware!
