Firestone tire and brake service

I went to firestone two weeks ago to have two tires replaced. The device was okay, though they forgot to put my spare back into my car and I lost a part to my tire rim after driving away. Today I went in to have my brake pads replaced and was called with a series of issues after the inspection. Firestone stated that I needed several brake parts replaced and two new back tires that were beyond repair. I found this hard to believe since they mentioned no problem with the back tires when I had the front ones replaced two weeks prior. I took my car to Midas for a second opinion. Midas told me the tires were in perfectly good shape, along with the other brake parts the were claimed to be in need of replacement. It turns out that I only needed new drums and nothing else. I would have spent over $750 dollars for the repairs at firestone. Midas $260! I'm living on a teaching salary and I don't understand why overcharging me $500 would be necessary.
