What ever happened to customer service?

A local agent called me early this month to ask if i was interested in renewing my policy. I told her no because the rates went up like 35 dollars a month and i figured since my coverage is not changing, my monthly payment shouldnt either. (later found out that the coverage on the new policy was actually less then the previous, but they thought i should pay more. Go figure) any way, a few days after that i go to check my debit account only to find out it has been over drafted. I call my bank to find out where the charge was paid too and guess what they told me. AIG, thats right. After telling them i did not want to renew, i guess that thought it would be funny to take my money anyway. So i call the local office and was told the person who called me before was kind of new and may not have done everything as she was supposed to. I say ok no problem, cut me a check and i will be out of your hair. Here come the excuses, "oh, we cant do that, the corp. Office will have to refund your money", blah blah blah, yea yea whatever. After going back and forth with them for about a week they finaly get tired of me and give me the corp. Number to call, who i have been now dealing with going on 4 weeks. I still have not received my money back, and now im being told that because their local agent did not get the information that i did not want to renew into them "on time" they are not responsible for the over draft charge they caused. So as it stands, i spend atleast an hour a week on the phone with these people, still have not been refunded that renewal fee, and have been told in not so many words "go f*k yourself " about the overdraft charge. Well i hope i can help someone learn from my mistake. Never give AIG access to your debit account for automatic payments (they sucker you in by saying if you do it that way it will be a little less per month) and if you do, make sure to give atleast 3 months notice if you dont want to renew just to make sure that info makes its way up the chain "in time".
