New York Life Insurance Company
HORRIBLE customer service from "Senior Partner" to "Agent" to "Service Center!" - Life Insurance

Business & Finance

We are absolutely STUNNED by what we are (still) experiencing with New York Life here in Jacksonville, Florida. We had life insurance policies for years before relocating here from out west and never ONCE had an issue. Ever since we started dealing with a local agent, nothing has gone right!

We made SIMPLE changes to our policies nearly six months ago. It is now March '09 and we STILL cannot get our policies! We keep getting the runaround from the local office through e-mails that read, "I have received some of the information but am awaiting the rest of it..." Months later, we still get lapse policy notices for EVERY SINGLE BILLING CYCLE!

Our payments to these policies are made on line, automatically, and electronically. The payments are received by NYL the day BEFORE they're due. Yet, every single month since Oct '08, we get cancelation notices.

We were due checks from our dividends. They made them for the wrong amounts, lost one, then the other, FINALLY we got them, but have NO WAY of confirming whether the amounts were calculated correctly. The local office WILL NOT SUPPLY US with ANY information regarding how the amounts are calculated.instead they keep writing us, "We are trying to get this information for you but in the meantime you may take the amount of the check and deduct it from your annual statement total." Do you SEE how stupid that is? That's what we deal with week to week.

Also, as if all of this weren't enough, the new policies that were supposedly "going out automatically within 3-5 days" (that was in December, three months after we should've gotten them!) are now, "Sitting here on my desk (as of March 3rd) because I got one back in early Feb and was waiting for the second one which I got last Friday." So, today we still don't have them because? Six times I've asked WHY we can't get our policies in just 24 hours, including in a reply to the so-called "Senior Partner" who did nothing but send us an e-mail that included, "Your agent is a wonderful person, blah blah blah..." No apology, no time frame for resolution, nothing. Six times I get nothing!

We will NEVER do business with New York Life again and it IS because of this ONE office. If a company the size of NYL allows this to continue (and I have not shared all the other mistakes, none of which we could've caused had we even been involved!) without ANY assistance or intervention from a "corporate headquarters."

I would be VERY leery of doing business with them if I were considering spending money in any kind of insurance or investment.

I haven't even touched on the health insurance fiasco! The agent works as a broker for other insurance companies. WHAT A MISTAKE ON MY PART! Too trusting and today's world is not the place for that as a customer.
