Misplaced check for my down payment

My husband and I financed a 04 Chevy Tahoe in Sept. 07. We were told by the salesman we could write one check for our down payment of $1500 and it would be held by the finance department so that we could make $500 payments at a time, he called it a hold check. Well the plan was that each time we brought in a payment we would get our $1500 check back and rewrite a new check for the new balance.

Somehow the finance manager lost our original check for the full $1500 so for 3 weeks we were given the run around by the finance manager and no one wanted to take responsibility for this huge mistake. Going into the 4th week I check my bank account and low and behold we're overdrawn $1500 plus another $1000 for the second check we wrote after the first $500 payment.

I called the dealership and was told it was the finance secretary's mistake but that all overdraft fees would be refunded to us. That was fine but what about the limit most banks give you when you go over so many.

Sad to say the deal we were promised never came true, we were so excited about being approved we took the horrible deal they gave us, high interest and $100 over the $350 we were told we would get.

Not to mention the only thing we were given for our trouble was 2 free oil changes and a crack in the windshield when I took the truck in for the first oil change which of course no one wanted to take responsibility for that either. The windshield was relaced free of charge after many calls and complaints to the dealership.

I wouldn't recommend anyone going there.
