Purchased items with cash on Sunday and returned two items on Tuesday. No cash refund!

I went to Pepboys on a Sunday and bought an oil filter, windshield wiper blades (both sides), fuel filter, gas cap, radiator cap, and air filter. I used everything but the air filter and fuel filter. I went to return it on Tuesday and I lost my cash receipt sometime after the purchase on Sunday. The parts were there name brand "Puralator".. I went to the cashier and she asked for my receipt and I told her my story. I knew the exact time and date and all of the items purchased and since I was the last customer that Sunday she should have not had a problem finding a copy of my receipt. She looks for it on her computer and then tells me without a receipt, I can't give you a refund. Only a gift card. The manager is called to approve the transaction and tells her the same thing but doesn't face me and tell me directly. He was in regular street clothes and looked very unprofessional. The cashier also wasn't wearing her name tag. They both spoke in Spanish and then didn't translate to me what was said. I needed the money to purshase a part for my car that they didn't have and let me down when I wasn't refunded in cash.
