Illegal car repossesion Illinois

My vehicle was seized by the state police on December 21th because my roommate was driving it without permission and got caught with a DUI. I was out of town when that happened. The police put a hold on the vehicle until the case would get solved by court. The case was very positive because in court the state attorney was going to present that the seizure was not necessary and that all the hold and towing fees would be waived. All the payments were made on time to the bank but before the court date was held, Bank of America was contacted by the state police and they came and took my car. They are charging me for repossession fees and I have to pay the full amount of the loan repot fees in order to get the title. What makes everything more difficult is that the car is actually still in hold by the state police and they are selling it before the whole case get solved by court. Hope to hear from someone that could give me a full understanding of the situation and hopefully some help.
