Try to teach you to sell cars for only $700, but they don't say that the job is... Orange Park

I received an email through monster.com saying that Sam Baker would like to interview me on Monday, 30 July. I agreed to the interview and first thing Monday morning I was at Gary Smith Ford waiting for my job interview. The interview took approximately 20 minutes. At the end Mr. Baker shook my hand and asked if I would be able to attend a three day training class later that same week. He told me that I would be going through the class that week and starting work the following Monday. He mentioned that there was a small fee for the training class. He did not mention that it was $700 or that they expected it that week.

At the end of the first day of the class he took us into the office one at a time and asked if we had the $700 for the "training program". When it was my turn he asked if I had the money and when I told him no and that there was absolutely no way I could raise that kind of money. He told me don't worry about it. The next day he repeated the after class process and read and explained a contract thing that said that since I could not pay in full at the time that the company would have the dealership take it out of my weekly paychecks until the balance was zero.

I agreed to that and signed the contract, after all I had been told that I would start work with the company Monday morning. He then asked if I had any kind of good faith money and I told him that I had two rolls of quarters and explained that was all the money I had and he wrote that in at the top of the contract paper and then explained again that the dealership would send them the payments straight from my paychecks until the balance was gone.

We were informed on the second day that we would interview with the managers of the dealership who we would be working for. No mention was made that the interviews we had with the managers were really to see who actually got the job and those who were S.O.L. It was implied that the interviews were merely a formality so that the managers could get a feel for us to see which lot we belonged on.

I found out Sunday evening that if we had not heard from Gary Smith Ford by then then we did not have the job. Mr. Baker said to go to the website and request a placement be done to get us a job at another company. When I went to the placement page, I could not access it and was able to get Mr. Baker or anyone else to tell me what I needed to do to gain access. Then the bills and phone calls started coming. I was out of work for two weeks because of this scam and had to settle for a job that is less than the one I gave up to take care of this 'wonderful' oppurtunity.
