Suzuki sidekick engine failure at 19,600 miles

Cars & Transport

Our Suzki Sidekick trashed it's camshaft, head and valves at 19,500 miles. The 3 year warranty has expired but I expected Suzuki to pay for some or all of the repairs since the mileage was so low. The vehicle was perfectly maintained and fluid and temperture levels were normal. That our mechanic cannot find any reason for this catatrophic engine failure, leads to only one conclusion: the car had a manufacturing or assembly defect.

Parts costs are about $2400 and labor about $800. Suzuki wouldn't even sell us the parts at a discounted price but insisted on their regular and outrageous prices.

Since this disaster occurred, I've found that honest car reviewers (not the whores that write for "enthusiast" magazines that accept advertising), mechanics, and consumers agree that Suzukis are the worst manufactured cars sold in America and that dealer service is awful. I've collected this information and posted some at our website "Suzuki Bites" at "www.geocities.com/suzuki_bites"
