Ripoff sold at auction cheap

Our car got repossessed on May 10 in the middle of the night as usual. When we called americredit about our car they said we would have 10 days to pay a balance or it would be auction off. Our total payoff balance for the car would of been almost 11,000. We could not come up with the money for the payoff. We got a letter the other day where it was sold at a private auction that we were suppose to know about in case we wanted to go to it. They kept our car for 40 days before it was sold. Then they did not sell it at kelly blue book price like it was suppose to be done. They sold it for 5500. They said we would have to pay 7100.00 balance. This is really a ripoff if we have to pay 7100.00 they should of left us keep the car. We already paid 24,000. On it to begin with. Sickness does really happen and no one can help it. It can fall upon anyone really quick. But when you talk to them and work out aggreements they should stick to them too. The dealership that bought the car is still making a profit out of it he is selling it for 8600.00. I think there is something that could be done i have read a lot of information about laws and they did a lot of wrong things to us.
