Ripoff Repo'd my car then asked for full pay-off!

These people are un-believable. My car was taken from my home by this company. All that I have read is correct about the harrassment done. My payment was due on the 13th of this month. I called them and told them that I was currently looking for a job (I had surgery last October) and that I was going to be late and make my payment on May 1st. I know I am past due but they never called me back and told me that this was unacceptable or sent me a letter. I called the office this morning and then was told that I had to pay the full pay-off on the vehicle to get it back. I thought I would be able to pay what was past due and get it back. No deal! Is there anyone out there who could tell me if this is right. They will not supply me with their policies on picking up vehicles. My hands are tied and I don't know what to do! I have no way to get my kids to school or work now and I am unable to even go on job interviews. I want to let people know that they are ruthless individuals that will screw you if you are not careful.
