Wells Fargo demanding fraudulent Insurance charges ripoff

Wells Fargo Auto Finance has been charging me for insurance since Oct. I have never had a lapse in coverage. Since that time both my insurance agent and myself have sent them and their CPI company proof of insurance countless times, yet they state they have not received it. The funny thing is that I have not received a copy for this supposed policy or any info as to where to file a claim if I needed to.

I am finding this situation with Wells Fargo all over the internet, and most cases seem to be arount Oct. Here is what I was told by Balboa: Balboa, there current CPI company, took over for Van Wagan (?) and they were not provided with anyones proof of insurance and it was the consumers responsibility to provide the proof of insurance. But how would we know that if we were never informed.

My loan has now gone into default and I am facing repossesion because I refuse to pay the insurance charges and am only paying my loan amount per my loan agreement. I was told by a Wells Fargo collection agent, by the name of Pam, that when they receive my payments they are applied to the insurance charges first, then late fees, and them my loan. She stated that when the credit comes thru it will go on the back end on my principal balance and I needed to pay the past due immediatley to advoid repossesion. They have also broken several state and federal guidelines for fair debt collection.

Since this is something I could not resolve myself, I have now retained a lawyer. He is very interested in persuing a class action suit since we are finding this situation all over the internet.
