Auto body Scam! Took a $1,000 cash deposit and fled out of town, no work was done to my car!

Hi my name is al and i am from ny, i just wanted to share my auto body fraud story with you. I droped off my honda on july 11 to have a full custom paintjob with a body kit installed along with aftermarket fenders. I left a $1,000 cash deposit with a signed reciept. Yesterday i passed by to check the progression on my car to find the body shop was open but something was weird.

I go up to the shop to hear a man was saying to go in and collect my stuff because the owner (the only man working in the shop) may not return. I couldn't believe what i was hearing... The owner packed his bags and left town... With everyones money. People were trying to put their cars back together so they could drive it home. The shop was a mad house.

Guys looking for their doors, windows, bumpers, anything that belonged to them so they could leave with there stuff... There were at least 7 cars in the shop in pieces never mind the cars he had in a lot... Which was were i found my car... I spoke to the lot worker and he said my car has been there since july 12. SO its was there since i dropped it off, it was even touched... Thank god for that cause all my parts i gave him were in the car... But he did take my 1,000 cash and i got nothing but a headace in return... I am trying to get a way to get my money back... But since i am a 20 college student i can't afford a lawyer... I worked all summer to hand over a 1,000 to man who took my money and fled...
