Watch out for DaMar & Cheryl Rhoadsdon't be another victim

I had an accident on Tower Rd.in Gainesville, Florida in January 31. I brought my car to DaMar Paints & Body because that's what Mazda car shop in Gainesville suggested for excellent repair. Mazda said that DaMar specialize in Mazda cars.

I knew nothing about cars, so I trusted what people in Mazda shop suggested. I brought my car to DaMar and sign the paper for them to start ordering parts on February 12. The total inspection from the insurance company of fixing my car is $5700.00. The manager told me that I would get my car back in about one month.

I called them on March 15, and they said that my car was not ready yet. The manager does not even bother to call and let me know in advanced. On April 12, I called DaMar once more to check on my car, and the manager told me that they accidentally set my car on fire, and it is going to take even longer to fix my car.

Even though they offer to pay to repair everything, which they should, they did not even bother to let me know as soon as this incident happened. Even though the manager told me that I could get my car back in the middle of May, I had a trip back home planned long before I found out that I could not get my car back in time (May 8-June 24). I had waited and waited. Finally, after almost 5 months, I got my car back.

However, as soon as I got your car back, I found some mistakes that the shop did. Even though the manager told me not to worry, I can always come back and redo it. However, I found more mistakes as I drove each day. Finally, this friend of mine who couldn't stand seeing me upset like this and told me a very responsible auto shop that I can go to, and the auto shop's owner offer to take a look at my car. After the first look, he told me that because the poor job the first auto shop did, they would need more time to inspect the car. Therefore, I brought my car back for another day for a full inspection. It turns out that I will have to spend another $3200.00 to fix my car back to what it used to be.

I called my insurance company and let them know the whole thing. My insurance company's agent is very understanding. She told me that she would understand what I have been through. She said that she would not want to go back to that auto shop for them to redo her car. Moreover, she said that I could choose other auto shop if I want to. However, this DaMar's manager told me that there is NO way that I can take my car to other shop than theirs.

I would NEVER want to bring my car back to that auto shop. Because DaMar could not agree to reimburse the amount for my car to be fixed, my insurance company told me that I would have to take my car back to DaMar. Today, it's Sep. 25. I had appointment with one of the legal representative in Sep. 4. The lawyer convinces me that I should give them a second chance to fix my car. My lawyer tried to contact the manager of DaMar in order make a written agreement, however he still cannot get in touch with the manager. Somehow, I felt like the manager has avoiding his call.

Today is Oct. 22. After several contact with DaMar, my lawyer told me that they still haven't response yet. And this afternoon, I finally get it together and drove over to the repair shop and check out what exactly is going on. What I found out that the repair shop was close down about 3 weeks ago! They went out of business, and just leave me and my lawyer hanging.

The owner of DaMar paint and Body's name is Cheryl Rhoads. Watch out for her! She can be really nice to you but still rip you off! She may go to another place and open up another repair shop waiting for victim # 2... You!
