Refund woes: I cancelled (in less than a week) and never got mine!

I went looking for an extended warranty for my car and came across Continental Warranty. I had called or emailed other companies already. I emailed Continental and they called me within minutes. So now the nightmare begins.

After a very high pressure sales pitch where I am told that I will be considered fraudulent in my inquiry if I don't buy today. So on 9/21/06 I opted to pay the deposit ant take a look at the contract to see exactly what was covered. You see you don't get to find out what you are paying for until after you have paid. It is sort of like that old show "Let's Make A Deal." I did this knowing that I had thrity days to get a full refund. I felt safe with that little bit of knowledge.

On 9/25 I got my contract in the mail. I showed it to my father-in-law who works in the auto industry and he said that it wasn't all that great of coverage for the money. He steered me a different direction.

So on 9/26 I called Continental Warranty to cancel my warranty and get my refund to my credit card. I was told that I would have to send a written request to cancel and that an email would be fine. I did this and got an automated response that I would have my full refund in two to three weeks.

Fast forward to 11/6/06. I had been patient and still had not seen this promised refund so I called. After waiting on hold thirty-seven minutes, I was told that I would have my refund to my credit card by 11/10. I was happy and moved on. Got my statement on 12/10 and what do you know. No refund! Suprise! So I called again. I was again told that I should have a refund "soon".

So here it is 1/2/07 and I am still waiting. I called again today and after wating 19 minutes on hold, I was met by a young lady who was shocked that I had never received my refund. I was told that the refund was being entered as we speak. She even told me when the transaction was completed and my refund should be there on my credit card.

Well, I went online to my credit card and... No refund! I will give it a few days because I have been this patient so far before I file a fraud complaint with my credit card company to try to get my money back that way. At this point I am tired of paying interest on the money that this company has refused to refund me.

I write this to say that these people are high pressure sales and that their warranty does not measure up (according to a family member who works for the manufacturer of my vehicle) and that if you give them money, you might not ever see it again.
