Charged $97 to change a fuse and called it diagnostic work. Ripoff

Automotive Service Experts took advantage of a female customer by charging her $97 to change a fuse. When the fuse blew again, she was told that the cause must be her A/C condenser fan motor. She was told that the fan motor was a "dealer only part" and given a quote for the repair.

Based on the "diagnostic" information that she paid $97 for, she went to a family member for advice. It turned out that the fan motor was readily available from anumber of local parts suppliers at half the cost that Automotive Experts quoted.

She bought the part from a parts supplier and had the family member install it. As it turns out, the "diagnostic" information was wrong. After installing the $130 fan motor, it turns out that the problem was actually the A/C compressor clutch coil.

When Automotive Service Experts was contacted about their faulty diagnosis, they claimed that they "diagnosed the problem as a blown fuse, replaced the fuse, and charged an appropriate amount of $97 for the diagnosis." They were not willing to concede that a blown fuse was only a symptom of a problem or that they had misinformed her about the condenser fan motor.

All in all, the female customer is out $227 because of Automotive Service Experts incompetence or downright dishonesty. These people weren't even willing to refund part of the "diagnostic" charge as was requested.
