Here are the details of my transactions with Phoenix Hardparts.

I purchased a transmission from them with their platinum 24/24 warranty. I had the transmission intalled when I received it. It had serious slippage between 2nd and 3rd gears straight from the crate.

At first they seems responsive and sent me a new valve body to be installed, it didn't fix the problem. I had to have the transmission removed and sent back to them, which they did pay for the shipping. They "repaired" it and sent it back to me. After installation it had the exact same problems.

I finally convinced them to send me a completely different transmission. When it was installed it did work correctly.

Here is the problem, the platinum warranty is susposed to cover parts and labor. Labor is to be covered at Motor book hours at $35 per hour, apparently there are several sources for those hours. Who knows a good mechanic who works for $35/hr? I was willing to pay the difference between $35 and hour and my mechanics cost, no problem.

Here is what their warranty states:
"Our PLATINUM WARRANTY 24/24 covers the cost of labor required to repair or remove and replace the transmission as needed during the warranty period. Labor is covered at $35 per Motor Book hour"

What I ended up with is the cost of having a transmission changed 3 times, only the first one should have been at my cost, it took over 4 months to get through the process, and Phoenix Hard Parts referenced Labor books other than that of what is being used by at least the two mechanics in my area that I trust. The book my mechanic uses is The Motor Labor Guide.
This means that instead of paying the hours that Motor Labor book shows they would only pay for what their books showed, which was less.

I ended up with my car being un-reliable or not mobile at all for over 4 months and payed out of pocket expences near $500.00 more than I should have had to.

I paid an extra $275.00 for a warranty which didn't do what it was susposed to do.

To be fair, when they did actually return my calls they were very polite and did offer to fix the transmission when it had problems. But each time the transmission was worked on it cost me more money out of pocket.

They even offered me a full refund of the transmission cost and warranty. Problem with that is I would be out all the labor to have the transmission installed, and still have no working transmission.

They did agree to "up" there hours to the highest hours in their books, which was still considerably short of my mechanics books, but even after that, I was out the near $500.00.

Call me stupid, but I do not enjoy paying for other peoples problems. I work hard for my money. If their product had been correct the first time, the other issues would have never come to light.

Take if for what it is worth, but that is my experience with Pheonix Hard Parts - Pheonix ReTransmission.
