Centrix Financial
Horrible Customer Service, Verbally Abusive, Dishonest, Vindictive ripoff

Cars & Transport

I was a Centrix customer since the year 2000. Since the very beginning, they have been absolutely unprofessional. My first bad experience with Centrix was when they called me on my cell phone while I was in the hospital with my sister as she was having a baby. They wanted me to call my employer and "put pressure on her" to have her verify my employment for my loan. When I explained to them that I was in the hospital with my sister, the lady apologized and asked if I thought I could take care of "this issue" by end of the day.

On another occasion, I spoke with a representative by the name of Kasey who offered me a deferment on a payment that was late. When I was a day late on the next month's payment, she called me and badgered me about why I didn't make the payment. I told her that I was in process of getting a raise on my job and that I would make up the difference when I got my paycheck at the end of the month. She told me that if I didn't pay the current month's bill, she would charge me for the deferred payment, the current month, and the next month's payment all at one time. She tried to get me to borrow money, write postdated checks, etc.

When I refused she told me that I needed to swallow my pride, get off my butt and go flip some burgers if I didn't have the money. She continued yelling and talking to me in this way until I started yelling back. I got so upset, I told her to come and pick up the car. She calmed down immediately and said they didn't want the car they wanted the money. I was too upset to hear that foolishness after everything she said to me, so I told her to come and get the car and ended the call.

The most recent occasion involved my car.in July, while I was still making my payments, the car was struck by a drunk driver while it was parked on the street and it was totaled. I was told by the LAPD that if the car stayed parked on the street that they would impound the vehicle and send me a bill. I called Centrix to tell them about the accident and asked for solutions. I also told them what the police officer told me. One of the solutions was a voluntary repossession. I put in the request.

They came to pick up the car and sent me a letter telling me that the car would be sold at auction on August 24 if I didn't claim the car by then. I asked if the car was drivable and they told me no, so I told them to go ahead and auction it, and I would pay whatever was left on the loan.

Several months went by and I called continuously to get status, but no one could tell me anything. When I finally got someone on the phone, they told me that car had sold, but they didn't know what the price was. I continued to call and was given the same answer. I called one day and spoke with someone who told me that they would look into it and call me back within the hour. I never received a call from him.

The next day I spoke with an operator who finally told me that the car had sold for just under $ and they transferred me to another department (repossessions) to get the details. I was transferred to the gentleman I had spoken to the day before and he told me that he did call me back and I informed him that he had not. (I sat by the phone the whole day and he did NOT call me back) He kept trying telling untruths about calling me back until I finally asked him what I owed on the car.

He told me I owed over $2000 on the car and I asked him how it was possible when I was just told that my car sold for about $2000 according to the operator I spoke to earlier. He told me to disregard what they told me. I then asked him if he knew how much my car sold for and he said he couldn't tell me that. I asked him how could he know what I owe, but he can't tell me what the car sold for. No answer.

I tried to explain to him that if I owed Centrix, I would be more than happy to pay, but if my car sold for more than what I owed, according to state law, Centrix would owe me money. He started badgering me asking me how would Centrix owe me money. I tried to explain to him that I just wanted to know what was going on with the account, did I still owe Centrix or did Centrix owe me. He kept cutting me off and asking me how could Centrix owe me money and then I told him that I wasn't going to let him treat that way. He said if I didn't like it, I should hang up the phone. Then he promptly hung up on me.

I sat there holding the phone trying to keep my cool until I decided to call back to speak to a supervisor. When I called back this time, I was transferred to a young lady whose name I was given by the operator as the person assigned to my account. When she answered the phone, she was laughing about something and when I asked her for status on my account, she gave me the same answer the rude man had given me.

I told her that I didn't think the amount was accurate and she told me "that's what's noted to your account". I told her that she was the person assigned to my account and asked her what was going on with the account. She told me that her name is assigned to a lot of accounts and that it was just standard procedure. She gave the name and number of Jessica Ashford when I asked for a supervisor. I left voicemail for Jessica and have to date, not yet received a call for her.

When I called back last week (12/29) I spoke with John in repossessions. I asked what the amount owed was and he told me $2700 and some change. I told him that was more than what I owed for the car. He told me there were finance charges. I asked for something in writing as well as a printout of everything I've ever paid on the car. He said he would send it. I thanked him and hung up. I received his letter today. Needless to say, it is missing the printout of everything I paid on the car, and when the letter came, I opened the envelope to find the letter folded and creased in a way that was definitely unprofessional.

I have sent a letter to the better business bureau and the federal trade commission. I have not heard anything back yet, but something has to be done about this company. I don't know who else to call, but I want justice for the way these people have treated me over the years. The experiences here are the ones that stand out in my mind, but there are MANY more like this that I have experienced. They are rude, unprofessional, dishonest, and need a major overhaul.
