NECO Engine Replacements
RIP-OFF Faulty Engine Refuse to Honor Warranty Nationwide

Cars & Transport

I contracted with NECO Engine Replacements to provide a new long block engine for my 1992 Chrysler LeBaron. After work was completed (Sept 10) at a local service station in Marina del Rey, CA (I have no complaint with them), and a 500 mile break-in period on the engine, I noticed that upon heavy acceleration the car would not shift. The installer could not find a problem and suggested that it was the transmission.

After weeks of diagnosis, the dealer determined that there was no problem with the transmission. I returned to the engine installer (which was the agent of NECO), who tried but could not diagnose the problem.

I finally found a mechanic that after 2 weeks of work found that the engine provided by NECO was improperly built - the crank timing was off and he had to re-index the timing belt to correct the problem.

NECO refuses to reimburse me for the fix, even though their agent could not diagnose or fix the problem. Their stance is that after the mechanic diagnosed the problem, I should have had him put everything back together, call them, and have them send me to their authorized center for their re-diagnosis and repair.
