Cars & Transport

There are several reasons why I am reporting this company. I bought a 1999 Oldsmobile Alero on June 04 from JD Byrider located in Tampa, Fl. I have had nothing but problems ever since.

I took my car to the company (JD BYrider) because something was wrong with my passlock system and my car was taking 30 minutes to crank almost everytime I needed to drive it. The company told me that they may have to send my car to the dealer for whatever reason needed. I specifically requested for them to call me before they sent it if indeed they needed to because I was at work and needed to know if I should make other arrangements to get home. My car was sent anyway without a phone call and I was stranded at work for 3 hours until finally my last resort was to call a taxi to take me across town which cost almost $40.00.

I was very upset the next morning when I went to the dealership but remained professional. The representaives were so rude to me and tried to make every excuse instead of seeing what they could do to resolve the problem. One young woman by the name of Gloria B. Even stated "that's why I have two cars".

Finally, they decided that they would cover the charges for the repair and tried to make me pay the $50.00 deductible however being that they caused me such a big inconvenience the previous day, I refused to pay anything dealing with this repair. They decided to cover that also however this one in particular service rep there by the name of Norberto was not happy with this. He through my keys to me and stated "take your car!". I let Richard Cox (vice president) and Burt Gaston (new general manager) know what happened however there wasn't much empathy shown. I don't think they even addresed the rep about it because I was never given an apology from him.

A few months later, I took my car to get my tires rotated and balanced at an auto center and they told me that I had the wrong tires on my car and that I basically could have gotten into a bad accident and could possibly be dead. I looked at my tire information label to see what size tires I was supposed to have and it listed p225. They sold me the car with p215 size tires. I researched and found that this could have affected other systems in my car and could possibly be the reason why my tires wore out when they did. It also played a major factor in fuel economy.

I brought this to the attention of Bert Gaston (general manager) and he showed no empathy whatsoever. He went on and on about how the mechanic exaggerated and that it's not a big deal and so on. He was rude to my spouse by trying to cut off everything that he was saying. My spouse works for GM Motors and was simply trying to explain their specifications.

They offered me some tires at a discounted price however the tires looked used and I had never heard of that brand and they were not even able to tell me any information on the tires; not even the speed rating! They seem very inexperienced! I declined the tires because I no longer trust JD Byrider and will not do anything that will put my life in their hands. I end up purchasing my own tires.

I could just go on and on about the inconvience, stress, and dissatisfaction that this company has caused me not to mention how much I'm paying for the car (almost $10,000) and how high the interest is. As a consumer, you would think that the company is looking out for the best interest. I don't think that is the case with this company or at least at this location. When I look at there plaque on the company wall which states that they are basically for the consumer and no car is sold "as is", I am in total distrust. That now means nothing to me. Once they've got you to sign those papers and there is no going back, they no longer care for the consumer.

Hopefully this wasn't to much and it will all get seen. I tried to make it short but with this company, even a summary is going to be long. However, I would like to think whomever is responsible for this website. It gives customers a chance to at least have the opportunity to let someone of higher rank know about their problems.
