Misleading customer to believe repair needed to be done consumer fraud ripoff

I had originally bought 4 firestone tires from Tires Plus in 2000. I had my tires rotated by another company in March and was told that they couldn't do it because the car would shake, so they put them back. I was told then that one of the tires in back had bad belts.

I took by car to Tires Plus and was told that all 4 tires needed to be replaced and that all 4 tires had a problem. Luckily, I paid for a warranty on them when I bought them. Tires Plus looked into new tires for me and said they would get back to me on the cost. Their cost to me was based upon the amount of tread left. Basically 50%. When they got back to me they told me that the tires that were on my car was an 'S' series and my car required a 'H' series. They offered to give me 4 Bridgestone Tires - Edger or something like that which is an 'R' series and was told that it was a grade better then 'H'. Not sure if that was true.

These new tires cost me about $160, which wasn't a bad cost. But when I got to Tires Plus they said that I needed new struts in my 1998 Nissan Altima GLE with 72,000 miles on it at a cost of over $500. I told him I was going to wait. I took my car to Hummel Nissan in Des Moines and asked them to check it out. They said my struts were fine and that they usually don't start having to change struts until after 140,000 miles or more.

Hummel Nissan noticed that I had new tires and had thought someone told me that I needed new struts. Tires Plus is a big rip-off and I will never go there again. And they wonder why consumer confidence is bad. Corporate rip-offs!
