Good Motor Kia
Promised to fix my check engine light but instead took the bulb out, which was unsafe. I didn't find out about it until i moved and had the car inspected. How lowdown is that. Ripoff

Cars & Transport

I bought a car 17 months ago from Good Kia in Rock Hill, 10-16-03. After test driving the car I noticed that the "check engine light" was on. I stressed my concerns about the light to my salesman, Billy Vinson. He then told me that, Oh there is nothing wrong with the car, it was like that with the previous owner, it's just on. I then told him that I was not going to buy the car with the light on, because that told me that there was a problem. He then said OK and said that it would be "FIXED". (I HAVE PAPER WORK STATING THAT, WITH SIGNATURES) So, on the 16th of October in 03 I went to the dealership to purchase my car, beacuse it was "FIXED", there was nothing wrong with the car. I was happy, he was happy, everything was great.

I have since moved to NC, and as you know we have to have our cars inspected. I had my car inspected on 4-5-05, and was bummed to find out that it failed. One reason was the license plate light, that's easy. AND the MIL bulb didn't work, ALONG with a code P0401= Exhaust Gas Recirculation Flow Innsufficient Detected, which meant ^%$#*! @ to me.

I finally found time to get my car repaired. On 4-22-05 I took my car to Town and Country Toyota on South Blvd. To have my car repaired. I forked out $487.83 that day, ouch. The next morning 4-23-05, I took my car to be reinspected, there was still something wrong with the "check engine light". I then went back to Town and Country Toyota. I stressed that i just spent money for them to repair my car and that it still didn't pass inspection because of the "check engine light". Well someone forgot that part. They fixed it, But guess what they found, Toyota's tech found that there was NO BULB. I have been driving a car with no "check engine light", because it was taken out. That sounds very dangerous to me.

I went back to have my car inspected again, yea I passed after all that. As I was talking to the guy at Meineke about what happen. He told me that that was against the law to remove the bulb, that all cars 96 and newer had to have that light working regardless of the state. I went back to Toyota, and got them to print out that the bulb was missing.

I called Good Kia today (Tuesday) to see what they had to say about this. I spoke with the sales manager Scott Hendrick. I told him what happen and this is all he had to say to me:

- that salesman doesn't work here anymore
- you have had the car for over a year
- we don't warrenty car over 90k miles
- EGR vales are not serious
- he doesn't know me
- we can go in circles all day
- can call back to speak to Mr. Good tomorrow

Any time I made a point it was like he was trying to think of something to say, I mean he seemed a bit uncomfortable to me. I don't think what they did was right. There could have seriously been something wrong with my car, and I would have never know because there was "no bulb" there to indicate that something was wrong. They have they have put my life and others lives in danger. I feel they should give me my $487.83 back.
