Ripoff, scam, take advantage, non refundable fee

In applying for a re-finance. The company asks you questions for the application. They make it sound as if they can help you, no problem. Then they get half way down the application and THEN tell you there is a $400 non refundable fee for the application.

When I got a little upset, they then say that includes the appraise fee for the house. After I agreed to that and gave credit card info, they then ask you questions about credit and the exact kind of loan you want... Only to tell me they can't help me. AND THATS THAT! $400 to tell me they can't do that kind of loan, they did not even finish the application.
