MBNA Trick or Lousiness

Business & Finance

Two complaints against MBNA:

After one year, I decide to put some type of pressure on MBNA.

On my May statement I read a debit of $800 I did not know about. When I brought it up, the representative stated that more than 60 days lapsed, there is nothing that could be done about it. I stressed to him/her that it was a fraud. Finally s/he promised to consider the case. I had to wait.

On my next call, the situation had not evolved. Same contempt. This time the representative suggested me to write a letter. I did. The answer I received back on September was not to announce anything new: I did not write within the specific time.

I called again to make my case that not having traveled on May there is no way I could sign anything abroad. Once again, the representative seems cooperating, s/he agreed that I would send a photocopy of my passport to prove that at the time of the charge I was not abroad. One more time I thought I was heard: the representative agreed; I did send the photocopies. I had to call to hear the same type of answer. What a treatment for a customer they call good one!

In terms of payment, all were going fine in a timely fashion, until their computer came under repair on December I think. I had to be guided to pay the bill on line. I did it, but it was unsuccessful. Unfortunately, and I did not realize that. When I got hit with a late charge I called for explanation. To their credit they granted me credit, and I made a payment.

Came March I was in Canada, attending a funeral when I thought I overlooked a payment. It was not the case. They had to guide me again, though, for me to make a payment of $800.

To my great surprise late April 24th, I received message over message, saying that unusually I was late for two months. I could not believe it. What about my last payment of March? Well, the transaction did not go through, I have been forced to believe. I had to settle for half of a credit this time for late charge. After all, I did not know that I should get a receipt from the computer. I specifically said to the person I talked to, that I was going to replace the payment with the same $800. This transaction was supposed to be posted for May the 2nd.

Guess what! When comes the time to pay last week I saw on my bill that the same bill they claimed they did not receive was posted the day after I posted the replacement payment. Not only that, the same replacement they were supposed to cancel, since they received the first payment, they delayed the transaction for 18 days at a date I did not have sufficient funds in my checking account. A veritable mess! Yesterday I received a penalty of $25 for insufficient fund.

Since they tamper with the date I put on the transaction for cashing the payment on April, what prevents me to believe that they did it twice before, especially when the day after a payment, they posted a transaction they claimed they did not receive before?

You who pay MBNA online, make certain you get a printing of your transaction, and keep your eye on your money.
