Rewards Card Balance Replaced With a 46 Cent Card

My wallet was stolen when I was out of town, so I called Citi to cancel my card hours after my wallet was stolen. The card had not been used, so I caught it in time, but I wanted to cancel my rewards card as well. The customer service representative told me that they have no way of closing those accounts, so I figured I had just lost $100, including the cash in my wallet.

When I made it back home, I called the Citi prepaid number just to double check. The representative told me I could get my money back, but I would have to file a claim, get it notarized and mail it in to their claim department. I filled out my paperwork, got it notarized and mailed it in. They then sent me a card with the remaining balance of 46 cents. I called and told them there must be a mistake, and they told me that they cannot replace the balance.

I was highly upset. If I had known they were not replacing the card, I would not have gone through the trouble of filing a claim and getting it notarized for 46c. I still have a balance with them, but you best believe I will be paying it off before the year is up and closing my card. I will never use Citi for anything ever again.
