Closed credit card account without notice

I am a Citi Shell Mastercard customer. Recently I have had problems with the card being declined, although I had over $1100 in available credit on the card. I tried using the card at a restaurant Friday 10/16 and at a discount store today, Saturday 10/17. Both times, my Shell Mastercard was declined. I called Shell Mastercard, and they explained to me that my account was closed due to something Citi pulled up on my Equifax credit report. I then pulled up all 3 credit reports, and Equifax, ironically, was the only one of the 3 to still list the Shell account as "open". Experian and Trans Union listed the Shell account as "closed at card issuer's request". I have never been late with a payment, never went over my credit limit, and often paid over the minimum payment. And there is nothing negative regarding my credit on any of my credit reports. I wonder what Citi found on my Experian file that caused them to close my credit card account. Apparently I am not the only one experiencing these problems. Others are complaining, via various consumer-complaint web sites, about Citi closing numerous Shell Mastercard accounts, most in good standing, using that same "Experian" excuse. Apparently Citibank had a bad third quarter, so they decided to close thousands of Shell Mastercard accounts without warning. They claimed to send me a notice about the closure when I called them, but I haven't received this notice yet. My account, as well as thousands of other Shell Mastercard accounts, were closed on October 14th. I certainly hope that my credit isn't ruined because of Citi's actions. I have always been good about paying my bills on time. I also hope that Citi doesn't charge me overdraft fees or ask me to pay my entire balance in one lump sum. I have another credit card that I could transfer the balance to if need be, but I'd rather work out a payment plan, preferably a fixed amount per month until the balance is paid in full, with Citi Cards. What they did to me, as well as thousands of other Shell Mastercard customers, is despicable.
