Walmart Money Card
Paid rent w/online BILLPAY

Business & Finance

I payed my landlord $650 for rent through BILLPAY. I didn't see an option to send a check so I used whatever option I did see. They asked for his name, address, and telephone number which I provided. Then I sent the money to him, thinking they would send him a check.

The online statement said it was taken out of my account on August 3 and paid on August 8, meaning that is when he received it. Well, he never received it. It is now August 17.

I spoke with a total of 5 representitives, on different days, telling them the same story and asking them the same question: Where is the $650 and will he receive it? I received about three different answers, two of which were that they could not tell me anything about the transaction!

The last rep I spoke with initially told me that my landlord received the money on HIS walmart money card. Really. Because I don't think he even has one. Then he told me that the money was spent on the day that it was received!

Well, that did it for me. I raised my voice and demanded to know where my money was because I was pretty sure my landlord didn't have a walmart money card. WAS I SCAMMED, I shouted! Poor Earl, the rep I yelled at and took out all of my anger on.

He put me on hold. He came back and said I had two options, to have them reissue a check to my landlord or to have the money refunded to my account. Of course I said refund my money! I want it back so I know it's safe. I will pay my landlord in cash. Then he wanted to know the date and time I had sent the money. Really? I already gave you my name, and last 4 digits of my SSN. I'm obviously who I say I am. How else would I know about this transaction? I didn't have the TIME I sent the money because IT IS NOT ON THE RECEIPT! So I gave him the confirmation number.

Then he said he would give me a "ticket number" and for me to call back tomorrow as it takes one day to process the refund. I said fine.

Luckily my landlord is being very agreeable but if I end up being evicted because of walmart money card, I'm going to kill someone.

Has anyone had this problem???

If so, please contact me to let me know how it was resolved.
