Jeff Barber Representing Amerian Family Insurance Paid for homeowners insurance but agent didn't bother to renew your insurance

We have had homeowners insurance through American Family Insurance for 20 years and this past December I called Jeff Barber (our agent) to ask a question about the policy and he informed me that our policy was never renewed because he never received a payment.

I freaked out and called the bank that handles all of our bills relating to the house they said that they sent him a check in December and he never cashed it so they sent him another one in July and they had no record of it being cashed but they did have proof that he received it.

I called him back and he set up an appointment to renew the insurance, he got my signature and ss# and said that he would figure out the rates and put a bill in the mail.

Well it is now Feburary and I still haven't received a bill so I left several messages with him but he never called me back so I called the main office for American Family to find out if we even have a policy set up and of course we don't.

They gave me his managers number so I called her and she said she would call me back by the next bussiness day and she failed so I called her back and she said that she never got ahold of Jeff, but she was going to call him immediatly and then call me back.

So she never called me back but Jeff did and his excuse was that he had been trying to send me paperwork but for some reason was able to. Ok so if there was something wrong he could have called me but he never even tried so I'm assuming the problem was that he couldn't find the post office or where to but stamps.

So now I have decided to go with another insurance company so I can finally have home owners insurance again and not have to worry about something happening to my house and not having insurance.

My advice for anyone that has homeowners insurance is to check on your policy every 6 months, just because you receive something saying that your policy has been renewed doesn't mean it's true. One last thing if anyone runs across Jeff Barber run away from him because he will screw you
