Navy Federal = terrible bank
They got me when I was in bootcamp back in the day and have had a strangle hold on me ever since. When I was 20 years old, they bumped my credit limit from $6000 to $14000. Generous lending? No, exploitation at its worst. They love tinkering with you APR too.
I cannot count on two hands how many times I've caught unauthorized transactions slipping into my checking account. They don't seem to monitor it whatsoever, and if you call to dispute a claim, expect no respect from their redneck customer service people who care zero about your situation. They charge ATM fees all the time. They practice predatory lending - I myself am a good borrow and have sterling credit, but I am very tentative about maintaining my credit. I can only imagine how rough it must be dealing with these people who isn't as disciplined.
In sum, constant unauthorized charges will pop up on your account, terrible customer service, and predatory lending practices even to the best borrowers. If you are in the military, skip them and go to your local BoA... And tell your younger personel not to sign up with them. They are bad.
