PayPal
Bank link scam

Business & Finance

I have been a longtime Ebay user, but have not used my account the past year. Since my inactivity, I changed my bank and Pay Pal did not have my new bank account number on file, although they did have an active credit card as a back up. Recently, I have been making many small purchases for a project and there was not an issue in paying for them via Pay Pal. After trying to pay for an item, I was told that I reached my $10k limit - which was crazy. PayPal prompted me to add my new bank account. My options were to send them the routing number and account number and wait several days to verify it OR send them my BANK LOG-IN PASSWORD! For instant verification. I have NEVER had a company request this and have always been told NOT to give this out. Needless to say, I sent them my bank info. For the 2-3 day process. When I checked my checking account, there were several debits made for Pay Pal the same day, but I was still not able to use the Paypal website to send funds. After trying to contact customer service and speak to a human, I was told that the debits to my checking account were from a debit credit card - not true and I would have to wait 3-5 days for them to process it OR give them my personal password.

Sounds like blackmail to me especially, since I can only use Paypal and not any credit card.
