Cannot Be Released From Joint Home Loan After Divorce Decree

Hello everyone,

Thank you for your interest in reading my complaint about CitiMortgage Inc.

In February I bought a house with my previous husband. Three years later we divorced, and in our divorce decree I left the responsibility for the house to my ex-husband.

I didn't realize it's not that simple. Now I'm trying to buy a house with my current husband, and I have found out by calling CitiMortgage that, because of my ex-husband's poor credit, I cannot be released from liability for the loan.

I'm just sickened over this. I haven't lived in the house for almost three years now, and I left the house and all responsibility for it to my ex-husband in our decree, but I'm stuck being responsible for the home. Isn't there anything I can do?
