The Mystery Account - Care Credit credit card

After learning that I would need to open a Care Credit Account to afford my cat's surgery, I opened my account and registered it online. Just yesterday, I visited the website and PAID OFF the balance on my Care Credit account. Then, earlier today, I received a call from GE Money/Care Credit telling me I needed to pay the minimum balance on my Care Credit account. Obviously confused, I called Care Credit and talked to a woman who informed me that yes, I had paid my balance, but I had ANOTHER account which was open and accruing a balance AND late fees.

I asked the indifferent customer service person how I could possibly have another account open. I had never heard of it and had NO ACCESS to another account. She told me to call my Veterinarian and basically was completely reluctant to work with me.

Then I called my vet who explained that it would have to be an error on GE Money's end since they had no paper record of me or them opening two accounts in my name.

2nd call to GE Money. I spoke with a man who was very polite and explained that there were indeed two accounts—both of which were accruing fees. This man is the only positive experience I have ever had with GE Money/Care Credit. He explained that they were started on the same date but reflected different balances. He then told me that the 490.00 I had just paid was applied to the ZERO BALANCE account. However, my Care Credit account online showed that my payment had brought my balance to 0.00

Now, I have to wait 2 business days to make sure the accounts are appropriately consolidated. I will close this account A.S.A.P. Care Credit and GE Money are such a headache!!! Because they're the only game in town, they haven't upgraded their account services and make it nearly impossible to complete the registration process ON THE PHONE.

I have had nothing but awful experiences with Care Credit. I am fortunate that I could pay for my cat's surgery, but Care Credit/GE Money didn't make it convenient or easy. I am canceling my account with GE Money in 2 days and will never give them my business again. I suggest you do the same unless you have no other choice—and they are relying on people who have no choice to consult them.
