HELOC Credit Limit Cut Without Notice From $218,000 to $128,000

Without any warning, Citi slashed the limit of my HELOC. The line was originally $218,000, and the bank lowered it and froze it there at $128,000.

I have never missed a payment, my balances with Citi have historically gone down over time, and my credit score is high. Because the bank pulled this credit with no advance notice, I am cut off from the working credit I rely on to live and to do my freelance work.

I had been keeping all my spare money in this account, including every paycheck and every other incoming payment. I deposited $17,250 to reduce the balance, which wiped out my entire monthly cash cushion. I also used this account to set aside funds for my property taxes and for my quarterly income tax payments.
