Credit Limit Cut From $5000 to $2000, Card Restricted at Gas Pump

While on a trip to Arizona to check on some property, I had to stop and refuel a total of 2 times going there. On my way back home, I stopped to get gas and I could not because American Express restricted my card use! I had to use another credit card instead. When I returned home and called AMEX, they informed me that my credit limit had been reduced to $2000.00 from $5000.00! I have never been late in payments and to this day, I don't understand why they do this to a good customer! I paid the card off and told them to kiss my butt! I will never, ever, or will any of family or children to come will ever have anything to do with them.
