Card Cancelled Instead of Waiving $38 Late Fee

I have been an Amex customer for years. Always paid in full. I was late by one day on one payment. $38 total. They let me cancel my card instead of waiving the fee. I just business is pretty good at amex. Lose a good customer over $38.
