I have been a loyal customer of AE for over 20 years but the recent letter I received Lawrence Sharnak regarding the penalty for late payment has turned me off to AE and they have lost a valuable customer. The interest rate on my blue card climbed from 11% to 27.24% which is extortionist rates. The other option is for Amex to cancel my account. I had a unsatisfying experience after speaking with Steve, Tanya and Kessie at the OPT Out Department... They certainly did not value customer loyalty. With this disappointing action from AE, I am going to pay off the balance and cancel my account. I will not do business with AE again.
