I have grown weary of the unfair banking practices of Bank of America, despite the fact that there is no legislation in place that defines the following behavior as unfair.

On January 26 a check was presented to my account for which there were not enough funds to cover.instead of returning the check for Non-Sufficient Funds, the check was pushed through, which set-off a serious of overdraft charges. I do and have admitted fault for issuing a check too early, but the bank has been intractable. The bank refuses to work with me on this issue despite the fact that I have explained
recovering from these charges will be next to impossible.

To date: There have been twelve charges at $35 each as a result of one item. The bank tells me it is a courtesy to me not to have returned the check. I tell the bank they have not defined the word "courtesy" correctly. For the record: My direct deposit goes through like clockwork
bi-weekly; in fact, on the 27th of January it went through, which would have covered the overdraft, but not after eight immediate overdraft charges for items that were $1.17, $3.09 and the like.

The bank could have charged me once, returned the check, and I could have dealt with the situation accordingly. Now, I have an account that is overdrawn and cannot close, a direct deposit coming up that will get sucked into the abyss of Bank of America's twisted system of courtesy, and over $400 in NSF charges that increases everyday.

I am a hardworking school teacher. I work two full-time jobs in these tough economic times to provide for my family. I pay my mortgage on time. I should not be treated like this, and the banks should not be
allowed to treat me like this. Is this what the stimulus package is all about... Bail-out the banks and their bad investments and leave hard-working Americans to be crushed by these banks?
