Freeline Fidelity
Rip-off Offered a $3000 limit MasterCard for $299 fee Would not give refund

Business & Finance

Several weeks ago I was contacted by Freeline Fidelity regarding an enticing offer. The deal was if I allowed them to withdraw $299 from my checking account they would send me a MasterCard with a $3,000 credit limit. I am quite sure you know the pitch.

The money was withdrawn on schedule, yet I had not heard from them for the longest time. Then, several days ago, I finally received a package from them that had NOTHING to do with a MasterCard or our original conversation. The package was filled with stuff I dont need, and certainly dont want, and certainly not worth $299 to me.

I telephoned their office four times now, each time waiting about 30 minutes to speak with a human. I was told to contact my bank and tell them that the $299 was not a valid charge and they should simply reverse the transaction. After several phone calls, and a lengthy visit with the people at my bank, I was told they could not reverse the charge. They would not even allow me to make a claim. On my last phone call to Freeline I was given some sort of number, which I presume is my authorization to return this package.

I have returned the package to Freeline within the date guidelines provided stating it is absolutely NOT what I was sold, it has NOTHING to do with what I was sold. I insisted on an immediate FULL $299 refund. I did not authorize any restocking fee. Per their Right of Cancellation and Refund Policy, I expected a full refund within 3 weeks (prior to December 21).

Unfortunately, it is now January 30 and I have yet to receive the refund. Further, when I call their telephone number (1-866-898-899) I get a recording stating invalid number.

This is "only" a $299 problem, but every $299 is important to me.
