Business & Finance

In August, I was contacted by one of Freeline Fidelity's telemarketers offering up to a $3,000.00 unsecured credit card with no annual fees for a $299 one-time payment. At the time it sounded like a reasonable offer and I planned on transfering the balances of two other cards for their much lower APR, which was half of what I was paying.

A few days later I had changed my mind and asked them to cancel my debit. I spoke with a mle telemarketer who was very polite and understanding about the situation, and at the end of our conversation I was satisfied that the necessary steps would be taken for my cancellation. A few days later I called my bank to check the balance of my checking account and was surprised to have a negative balance. I spoke with a customer service rep who informed me that Freeline Fidelity had debited my account and scince there were insufficeint funds I was charged a penalty fee. As result, I bounced a check and later had to pay another penalty fee. Then again on September 1st my account was debited and the funds were available so they received their unauthorized payment.

I thied calling several times but never got through. Finally almost two months later I recieved a package in the mail and was able to contact someone directly. I spoke with a woman who told me that I should send back the package with a note explaining my situation, at my own expense. Then I should be contacted by someone in their cancellation dept. And a refund issued as soon as they received the returned package.

I t is now December and still not a word about my refund. I've tried to contact this company several times to no avail. If anyone from that company is reading this, I hope they feel proud to have scammed a single mother, with two small children, and a very limited source of funds out of almost half a month of income.
