Bank Of America
Bank of America's credit card services trained to harass and violate consumers New York

Business & Finance

Several months ago, I lost my Bank of America credit card. I hardly ever used it, so it had been a while since I had realized that it had gone missing. When I did realize, I called the Bank to report the card lost/stolen. They never sent me a new card for some reason, but stopped sending me statements for 3 whole months! I never asked to stop receiving statements! So, naturally, not knowing my minimum payment due date, I called the bank to ask them the due date. However, they stated it was their policy that the account number, would not be released over the phone, for security purposes.

Great, so now how do I pay the bill without not knowing the account number? I have three cards with Bank of America, so I didn't know which one to tell them to apply a payment to. So I had to search through some paperwork, to find an old statement with the account number on it.By this time I was already one day late on making payment because of all of the trouble I was having. Finally they had added late fees for all three months, with accompanying over the limit fees, because god forbid they give a 20 year old more than a 1,000 dollar credit limit.

As of three months before this I had an excellent account history with this card. They FINALLY after three months of going back and forth, sent me a bill for the account, showing I owed $135.00. Only $24.00 of this was principal and interest, the rest were late and overlimit fees. The due date was Oct 10. However, they began to call me on September 25 demanding the full amount. I went on to explain that the bill had a due date, which was well into the following month, and to leave me alone until I pay it on my own, and in the meantime I would like some of the fees removed, being that I have always been an excellent customer and that I didn't have access to my account for 3 months, while begging them to give me access. They told me they were the collection department NOT customer service. They stated that they were in the same location AS the Customer Service dept but it was a different phone number. Whatever. I called Customer Svc and was told to call Customer Assistance, who turned out to be the same people I spoke with PRIOR, who then told me to call Customer Service. This is all on DAY ONE. From that day, for the next week they called me 56 times (no lie), and I spoke with someone each and every time. I ALMOST gave in. FINALLY, after 56 times they realized that they had to settle with me.

I finally received a call from the correct department, who started out by telling me they didnt have all day to speak to me on the phone, because Bank of America had to get back to making money (again not a lie), and the rep I spoke to told me she reversed $156.00 of the $135.00 AND I still owed $78.00. I responded HOW? I said, I should have had a credit for this monthly cycle. She proceeded to tell me that Bank of America had made a calculation error last month in how much I owed, and that it was a mistake on the statement, so I wouldn't have been able to know, AND that the bank's computer system was the only place to find such info. I asked the rep, how could she propose that, and how could she ask me to pay the bank's mistake ON THE SPOT without even sending me some sort of written proof. She had no answer, and hung up the phone.

So, basically, Bank of America provided me with HORRIBLE customer service then attempted to swindle me, pull a fast one, and then right out steal my hard earned money, and harassed me TO NO END. Its not my problem that they promised merrill lynch 50 billion the day before then needed to try to collect as much money as humanly possible to buy them.
