July 05 while in Seattle, American Express would not authorize my hotel charge.

Called them the next morning, they said, my balance was too high, so they declined. After arguing, they OKed the charges. I told them, that the following week, I was traveling to San Francisco, & would have a lot of charges, they said, will not be a problem.

When I got to San Francisco, they declined charges again.
When I called, they tell me they are not going to honor any charges, & were canceling the account.

This created a major problem & embarrassment for me on a business trip, since this is the only card I carried, had to borrow funds from other people traveling with me, waited to get re-imbursed to pay them back.

Due to not carrying any other credit cards, lost the opportunity to travel for my job, (company did not advance travel funds).

In October got laid off, - this problem probably caused the layoff.
