Wachovia Steals $600 in OVERDRAFT Fees for funds they had posted as available! Alexandria Virginia

I own a rental property. My renter deposited his rent directly to my Wachovia account, as I am out of town. Wachovia posted the funds to my account, and I made various payments (within my budget). To my horror - nearly 11 days later, Wachovia reversed the check because they decided it was "improperly formatted" and proceeded to charge me a grand total of $600 in NSF fees for every bill I had paid, and every purchase I had made since the deposit was posted.

I called Wachovia and after a half hour with an extremely rude associate, who could not answer why the check would have been accepted and posted if it was missing something, I was offered a $125 refund. She said that this was NOT a Wachovia error but as an act of good faith she would offer me a $125 refund from the $600 in fees they had charged. I asked to speak with her supervisor and she quipped, "So you are DECLINING the fee return then?" She would not let me just say I wanted to speak with a supervisor. She said "I will note your account that you declined our offer to refund". Then she placed me on hold for eternity, came back to say that her supervisor was too busy to take my call, and that my call would be returned by the super before close of business.

That was 4 days ago... Still waiting for that call back...

By the time Wachovia got through sinking their teeth into us, we were overdrawn by $2000. Ouch. No remorse from Wachovia - and supposedly they are number one in customer satisfaction? SICK. I am closing my account regardless of what they may or may not eventually refund. It is unimaginable that a bank can get away with something like this... Completely devoid of any remorse - regardless of the fact that they are literally stealing food from our table.
