Ripoff, excessive charges, unable to communicate with them

For some time I had a good relationship with Capital One and paid my bill on time via the internet. Suddenly, one month I was unable to sign into my Capital One account online and make a payment, which would have left me with a balance of approximately $40.00

I mailed in that payment and Capital One accepted it, and claimed it was late, thus incurring a late fee.

I attempted many, many calls to Capital One and was unable to speak with a live person. Only recordings. I e-mailed them repeatedly, but was unable to obtain the necessary information.

I subsequently mailed in another payment, two weeks in advance of the due date, and it was again posted late, incurring still more late fees.

Eventually I began to receive phone calls on a daily basis. I as so steamed by this time that I merely pointed out to them that since I was unable to speak with a "live" person when I had a problem, I was no willing to speak with one now that the balance had been escalated up to about three or four hundred dollars. I had made no further charges on that account.

I feel I made very decent effort to maintain a good relationship with this company, but it is not possible to speak with a human until things have gotten so out of hand that it is impossible to deal with them.

Of course, they have reported this — apparently several times — as my credit score went down considerably and still continues to do so. I don't know how they managed to continue to reduce my credit score with one delinquent account, but apparently they found a way.

This company is a ripoff from the word go. I will be interviewed, testify or whatever is necessary to save others from this abuse.
