Merchants Credit Guide - CFB Financial Ripoff I discovered a scam a ripoff

The other day, my husband of 8 years received a letter in the mail telling him that he owed money. The letter came from Merchant's Credit Guide Co. Out of Chicago, Ill. To me the letter looks cheap. No fancy letterhead, no color, just a typed, black & white letter. The letter stated that he owed an amount of $1,216.25 for an old Benefivcial account. Well, right away I thought it was something that he had done before I knew him... Something with his ex-girlfriend. We had gotten bills before that she had made and never paid so, this was an option. He told me that he knew nothing about this bill and it came addressed to him just using his first initial and last name. That to me was odd to start. I work in the financial business and we never do loans using just a first initial.

He said he wasn't going to call them because he knew nothing about it and wasn't going to pay. They gave him 3 options on how to pay this debt. I proceeded to look into this and when I pulled 2 credit reports on my husband, there was nothing about this debt on them. I then got on the computer and looked up CFB Financial III LLC and found out that they and Merchants Credit Guide Co. Are one in the same and it's a ripoff... A scam. Apparently they sent this out to everyone with that initial and last name trying to collect money. I'm glad I looked on the internet and found this. BEWARE of this company.
