Bank Of America
Ripoff fraudulent credit card processing company claiming to be Bank of America

Business & Finance

I recieved a phone call the other day from a woman claiming to be with Bank of America. She was telling me that I had been approved for a credit card with them and that she just needed to confirm my information. She went through my address and phone number and my social security number. She told me that all she needed was my checking account information to get this processed and get my card out to me.

I asked her why they needed that information. She told me that they needed to withdraw 387.00 from my account. This was for a one time fee that would not be charged ever again. I asked her if I could give her a call back to confirm she was who she said she was she told me no that there was no way to do that. I asked her to give me a website that I could visit to make sure that I had indeed applied for this card and she told me that I could get on the Bank of America website and check my application status. So I asked her to call me back. She said Okay.

I got on the website and found that they had no record of me. I called the number for Bank of America and talked to this very nice gentleman who told me that they have no record that I had ever applied for a credit card with them. When I told him why I was asking for this information he told me that they don't sell this information to anyone and that if they needed to confirm anything that they would send a letter or one of thier people would call me.

So I waited for her to call me back. When she did she became very upset and belgerant with me. She told me that she was someone from thier processeing department but couldn't give a lagitamate id number or a phone number that I could call to verify. Just Beware.
