Capital One ripoff Used Late Mail excuse to raise interest rates! Seattle Washington

Last year they talked us into a personal "consolidation loan" to pay off our debts and made it sound very attractive with 5.99% interest. We bought in and made the 10th of each month our due date. We mailed a payment on the 1st of each month from ND to Seattle, WA. The Post Office assured us that mail is delivered to that location within 7 days.

In December (during the Christmas mailing season) they claimed that the payment arrived 1 day late and imposed an interest rate of over 11% without changing the payment schedule. They do not consider the mailing date stamped on the payment envelope - only the date it arrives at their processing center.

Customer service REFUSED to negotiate any changes to the account! Their monthly statements to us do not show interest charged. At the end of our 4 year loan agreement period we will get HUNG with an enormous final settlement.

In our opinion they are actively seeking to ruin our good credit and RIP US OFF! If you have an account like this with them, please take our advice and REFINANCE locally.
