Credit Card Scam Wanting Upfront Payment Ripoff

This has been posted here a few times already. Peoples Rebate Association will call you informing you that you have recently been declined for a credit card and they have approved you for a $2500 credit limit. They will tell you there is a one time set up fee of $299 and it can be withdrawn up to 30 days from now from your account. They will ask you for your personal information and all of your bank information. Do not give this information out over the phone. They will take your money and send you credit card applications and other promotions.

I was stupid enough to give out some of my information before I became suspicious. My withdrwal is suppose to come out 12/9/04 and I have already contacted my bank to have it stopped. If anyone who has been taken by this scam knows the exact name that appears on the bank statement for the withdrawl and could post here, I would forver be gratefull. I am trying to be one of the lucky ones that may be able to avoid this.

It is illegal for credit card companies to ask for a fee for a guarnteed credit card.
