Clumpy and gloopy mascara and makes my eyes itch and swell - Dior Exstase Mascara

I bought this mascara hoping for excellent results as the reviews were mainly good, however it is so gloopy and sticky that it lands up overcoating my lashes. Also, I had to stop wearing it as my eyes itched so badly, went red and weepy and were swollen in the morning. I perservered for about 10 days but then had to stop.
I bought this product from the Dior counter in Healthrow's duty free about a month ago. I am not sure what the process is but I love Dior and would possibly like to swap this product for something else. It's pretty much new.
