My husband is in the military. When I contacted DIRECTV to set up service, I was informed if we needed to cancel due to being in the military, there would be no early term fee.

When I called to cancel service because we were moving, I was told that I owed $220 because we are not being deployed or moved to a base that does not allow the service.

I asked to speak to a supervisor. The person who came on the line was NOT courteous and told me that I signed up for the service and the fee stands because the situation does not line up with their requirements to waive the fee. I explained that had this expectation been set up front, I would not have signed up. At NO time did she even attempt to address the fact that one of their representatives provided inaccurate information. The information at this late stage does me absolutely no good.

DIRECTV has lost a customer for life. I would rather do without service than to deal with a company that lies to its consumers. I will tell everyone I know not to sign up for their service, and I will also dispute the early termination fee when they try to charge my credit card.

For anyone considering DIRECTV... It's NOT worth it!!!
